2024 Tesla Model 3 facelift - The best electric car to salary sacrifice?
In this article, we'll delve into the details of the Tesla Model 3 Highland and discuss why leasing through The Electric Car Scheme is the best way to make this special vehicle a reality.
The Tesla Model 3 Highland is the latest addition to the Model 3 lineup, and it promises to set new standards in the world of electric vehicles. This sleek and sophisticated saloon combines the best of Tesla's cutting-edge technology with a design that is both stylish and practical.
Tesla has left no stone unturned when it comes to enhancing the performance and efficiency of the refreshed Model 3 Highland.
Increased Range
Tesla's commitment to pushing the boundaries of electric vehicle technology is evident in the Model 3 Highland's extended range. According to Tesla's own WLTP (Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure) ratings, the Standard Range Rear-Wheel Drive (SR RWD) version boasts a range of 344 miles, while the Long Range (LR) version delivers an astonishing 421 miles, both when equipped with 18-inch aero wheels. These figures represent a remarkable 11-12% improvement over the current Model 3 WLTP ratings.
However, it's important to note that these are WLTP numbers, which tend to be higher than the US EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) range ratings that are typically used in the United States. If we extrapolate a similar 11-12% improvement for EPA ratings, we can expect approximately 300 miles of range for the SR and around 370 miles for the LR version. It's worth keeping in mind that Tesla has faced criticism for potentially overstating vehicle range, so these figures should be taken with some context.
Aerodynamic Advancements
One of the key factors contributing to the Model 3 Highland's extended range is its improved aerodynamics. Tesla engineers have meticulously redesigned the vehicle to optimise airflow. The lower and sleeker front end of the Model 3 Highland channels air more efficiently around the vehicle, reducing drag and improving overall aerodynamic performance.
As a result of these aerodynamic improvements, the Model 3 Highland achieves a remarkable coefficient of drag (Cd) of 0.219, the lowest in Tesla's lineup and a notable reduction from the previous Model 3's Cd of 0.225. This enhancement in aerodynamics alone contributes to a 5-8% increase in range, showcasing Tesla's commitment to innovation and efficiency.
You can now order the 2024 Tesla Model 3 in three different models
Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) - 2024 Tesla Model 3 Highland
Tesla will continue producing the much-loved Rear-Wheel Drive version of the face lifted Model 3. This car can travel up to 318 miles on a single charge (WLTP range), has a top speed of 125mph, and accelerates from 0 to 60mph in just 5.8 seconds. The starting price for this version of the Model 3 is £39,990. You can also personalise it by choosing different colours, wheels, adding a tow hitch, or selecting a black and white interior, following Tesla's tradition of keeping things simple.
If you decide to get the Tesla Model 3 Highland RWD on your own, it would cost you £636 per month. However, if you opt for The Electric Car Scheme and choose to sacrifice some of your salary for the Tesla Model 3 Highland RWD, your monthly payment would be only £413. This way, you save £254 on income tax and £13 on national insurance. Additionally, you'd have a small benefit-in-kind tax of £44. What can the rear screen do?
Adjust the front passenger seat:
The rear touchscreen in the Tesla Model 3 Highland allows passengers in the back to move the front passenger seat forward, providing more legroom.
Activate rear seat heaters:
Simply tap the seat you want to warm, and the heat will turn on. Tapping multiple times lets you choose the heating level from three options. You can easily turn off seat heating with a single tap, or control both seats with a button located in the upper-left corner of the screen.
Manage the vents:
The traditional physical tabs for adjusting the rear air vents in the Tesla Model 3 have been replaced with electronic controls on the rear touchscreen. Swipe the airflow image to choose the direction, and select from predefined heights (high, medium, low) for airflow. Fan speed is adjusted using arrows in the lower-left corner of the main menu. Keep in mind that there's no separate climate zone for the rear seats; temperature control remains with the front occupants.
Adjust rear speaker and entertainment volume:
Access the volume slider by tapping the speaker icon in the main menu. The rear screen controls sound only for the rear speakers. Users can also connect Bluetooth headphones for a private audio experience.
Stream Netflix, Disney+, Twitch, Hulu, YouTube:
While using the large front screen is limited to parked situations, the rear screen in the Tesla Model 3 allows streaming on the go. Watch your favourite shows on platforms like Netflix, Disney+, Twitch, Hulu, and YouTube directly from the rear seat screen. However, keep in mind that certain services may have location requirements, and some functionality, like Hulu + Live TV, may have limitations within the Tesla's screen interface.
Ventilated Front Seats
Comfort is paramount in the Model 3 Highland, and the addition of ventilated front seats takes it to the next level. What's more, you can even control these seats remotely through Tesla's phone app, ensuring that they are heated or cooled to your preferred temperature before you step into the car.
Luxurious Rear Seats
The rear seats have received an upgrade as well, now featuring perforated upholstery for added comfort. While they may not be ventilated like the front seats, rear passengers can still enjoy a comfortable and relaxing journey.
Enhanced Sound System
Audiophiles, rejoice!
Tesla has amped up the sound system in the Model 3 Highland, with a total of 17 speakers (an increase from the previous 14). This ensures an immersive and high-quality listening experience for all occupants.
Improved Bluetooth and Wi-Fi
Connectivity is key in today's world, and Tesla has invested in this aspect as well. The Model 3 Highland boasts improved Bluetooth microphone performance, ensuring crystal-clear calls and voice commands.
Additionally, the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth systems have been enhanced to provide seamless connectivity to routers and phone keys, making your digital life on the go more convenient than ever.

Tesla Model 3 Highland approved to receive adaptive headlights in Europe
The Tesla Model 3 Highland is set to be the first Tesla car in Europe with adaptive headlights, according to information from Teslarati. Unlike traditional headlights, adaptive headlights can adjust their light to better illuminate the road based on driving speed and conditions. This enhances driver safety and visibility.
Although all Tesla models since 2020 have had LED matrix headlights, none have come with adaptive headlights as a distinct feature. Interestingly, adaptive headlights are not widely available in the United States, but they have been common in Europe. Therefore, it's not surprising that Tesla is introducing this feature in Europe first.
Certification documents posted on the Tesla Fahrer & Freunde (TFF) forum in Germany confirm that Tesla has received approval for adaptive headlights in Europe. True to Tesla's approach, the feature will be delivered through an over-the-air software update.
Quieter Interior
Tesla engineers have worked diligently to create a quieter interior environment compared to the original Model 3. This was achieved through various changes to aerodynamics and the use of advanced materials. Less noise intrusion means a more serene driving experience, allowing you to fully appreciate the Model 3 Highland's impressive technology and performance.

Larger Rear Trunk
Practicality is not overlooked in the Model 3 Highland. The rear trunk has been expanded, offering up to 594 litres of storage space, a notable increase from the previous 561 litres.
This means more room for luggage, groceries, or whatever you need to transport, making it an even more versatile vehicle.
